I had to re install my operating system after my computer was wiped out when trying to install windows service pack1. My first suggestion would be to not try installing any service packs. I have had nothing but headaches every time I tried to put this in. I had to send my computer out this time to get it to work at all and the first night without my laptop what comes on the tv but a Mac commercail where PC says Window 7 is out and there will be no problems like in the past, I promise. Yeah I though it will be a whole set of new problems.
Anyway, I just got the thing back and am a bit daunted by all the stuff I have to install. I made a list of the things I was using and would need to download but have been looking into using new stuff. Things change in monumental ways daily on the internet so as long as I can easily add to my eBay Store sales and my Zazzle Stores I am going to take my time and try some new stuff.
Right now I have to wake my husband because the World Series is coming on …
The first thing that I was worried about was hooking up my wireless. I had checked to see if I needed the install disk that came with it because honestly I don’t remember using one. I found out the one is not necessary for my Belkin. Next I was interested in getting my browser up and running because I really hate using the supplied IE and have found that the best for my variety of uses is Firefox. I installed Firefox 3 even though 3.5.4 is available. I remember having problems with that. I next downloaded an email program. Email programs have come a long way over the last 10 years. I am most comfortable with Thunderbird, another Mozilla platform like Firefox. I did get use to working with my ISP web based email but it is slow to load where as with a separate program your mail is easy to get to. The best part of the ISP email is that I can send out large bulk email to my vintage photo clients at one time. Using a program to do this slows this process down because you can only send a limited amount of emails at one time.
I just started to look for my old programs to start downloading things in order to get back to being able to do some work. I wanted to make some graphic areas for one of my Zazzle stores Toppings. I figured out of all the graphic art type programs I was using I liked paint.net best. I downloaded the newest version and got stuck when a message came up. Need .NET framework 3.3.5 or higher from sp1. The dreaded service pack is already haunting me. If you go to download it tells you that this is needed and gives a link to download which I did but it did not work. I do not want to spend 5+ hours waiting to download and install the full Vista sp1 and I am actually afraid to do it. I have no disk drive to reinstall the OS and would have to take it to the computer shop again if anything happens this time.
More to come ……
I am really p.o.’d. I have spent a lot of money preparing for what eBay announced as the TRS (Top Rated Seller) program. Over the summer I actually received telephone calls from ebay telling to get ready for all the changes forthcoming to the site. So like an dummy I did. Yesterday was the first day of this new program and I spent more than ever on listing new auctions and fixed price items to sell. Surprise, surprise …. I was not made a TRS. I saw the badge and the special search forms on my auctions over the last few evenings. I guess I was just a part of some getting ready program. I saw these things and was more confident than ever that I was to be put into this program. Hence I spent more money to list. There has been very few buyers over the last couple weeks and again I assumed ( making an ass out of me ) that this was because the site was being prepared. Hence I prepared even more items for sale sending my payment due skyward.
I am venting here …. there is a poll on the top right of this page about how you feel eBay treats it’s sellers.
I have been working non stop on my sites and figuring out how to use Twitter to the fullest.
I just did not understand how using Twitter was of any use to me. I have no friends or family that I contact online and it just seemed so random. Sending out Twits to God knows who. What made a difference was the installation of TweetDeck. The neatest part of this is that you can send out your tweet to multiple places which saves the headache of opening and signing in to anything you might have. It makes having a MySpace account, a Facebook account and separate Twitter accounts worth having. Like I said I do not have anyone to send personal stuff to and sending out things about myself seemed silly. Now I am actually hoping to create a network of some kind.
I love setting up the pages and making them my own with neat backgrounds and colors making Facebook a bit of a disappointment. There are no options to let you customize your space. My favorite place to do these set ups is at Zazzle. I have actually opened over 12 store fronts.
I was starting an adventure with my first store. I had recently fell in love with designing fractal’s and putting them up on Deviant Art was nice but why not try and make some $$. My gallery at DA
My first store took a bit of thinking about – I wanted it to have the perfect name and all. When I signed up it was late at night and I was tiered. I wanted to use my eBay ID to keep things straight for myself because after a couple years I accumulated quite a few ID’s and passwords making life a living hell at times. When I signed up for my account I typed the name in wrong and instead of kashmier like at my eBay store “All Vintage Photographs” I now have kahmier. I figured I would adjust it later but you can not change you ID because that is what they use to name your URL so I just became used to kahmier.
I picked the original ID used on eBay “kashmier” because my favorite band/group is Led Zeppelin. It was hard getting an ID that wasn’t used 10 years ago, today you have to pretty much take the closest you can get. Although I signed up for a Yahoo email account the other night and I just used what I was thinking wantaburger and it was good. :)
I chose the name Inspired Ambitions for my site, below is a screen shot of the main page. I still work on it but not near as much as I used to.
Then as the holidays started to approach I started putting together things that were just for the holiday and I was getting very unorganized in my store. I then decided to open up what I like to call a “Sister Store”. I believe the first one was “HalloweenStuff”
The fee for setting up a store is $0.00 so you can see how easily tempted to set up multiple shops one can be. I had started my first store on Cafepress
. They charge a monthly fee for a shop that keeps more than one design and I did not know if I was going to make enough to cover it and ended up closing it.
I was making bridal stuff and again my main shop was getting too big so I opened another.
There are still more to be added along with some story on how they came about. Stop by anyone of the shops and I am sure you will locate something you like. If you start out at Inspired Ambitions
you can get to any of the other stores from there.
